Some believe that haikus
Always have to follow the rule:
"Stay within 5 7 5!"
Some don't.

If a hiaku is defined as
stay in 5 7 5
and you don't
then it isn't a haiku

I find it rather odd.. the topics you come up with...it brings about a sense of paranoia. Do you have access to my computer?
Maybe it is the way my mind connects thoughts together. Like just a few days ago, I was reading Haikus.....
or is there REALLY no separation?
I really like you and I am going to be nice from this moment on...

yes, there is no separation, that is an illusion
it's all one source, one mind
many (apparent) bodies _________________ Expanding Heart & Melting Mind

No Separation
Appears in many bodies
Yet none may see it
And the judges say:

Can't resist!
The sea opens up
burping forth great tidal waves;
it's all just water

I really don't like you and I'm gonna punch you right in your big fat nose!
Wow,it seems these pronouns are interchangeable in many such interesting ways.

Long ago....................in a land far away............I asked my teacher (jokingly) if he was trying to kill me.
He became silent........looked at me with empty eyes.........and whispered:
'yes'. |

Here is how our mutual friend Rich Hay (WiTruth) explained it:
"The haiku form is fundamentally a three lines, with 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables; unless you happen to be a Master and then anything you do is okay, because you transend the form (are above/beyond the law).
Classically, haiku relates to nature and has a key word that identifies a particular season.
Rich also quoted from a favorite little book of his called “Awareness Beyond Mind” by a Kenneth Verity:
“…a true haiku should be a simple and direct expression (sometimes an exclamation) of pure response to a glimpse or scene in life, with no intervention from logical intellect.”
“The good haiku is a picture in words, rich in suggestiveness – not an explanation or argument."
“Senryn…is, in form, a haiku, but satirizes human foibles and allows the poet more freedom for content.”
As michael is over 50, it may be expressed thus:
Ah! Autumn years see
Syllables expressed in
Form: a Haiku. Ah!
Silly syllables
What foolishness is in the
Words: a Senryn. Ah!

This topic seems made for Rich, as he is in the process of publishing a book of haiku titled "Out of My Mind and Back to My Senses".
They are echoes praising God through his own voice. Reading them, One smiles in remembrance.
Since he does not seem to be here at the moment, I'll do a little 'self promotion' and say if you ever come across it, it is quite delightful. Full of pointing to that which points
The following selection says it all. Read the book for the simple joy of it.
Pure awareness wed
To limitless sensation
Gives birth to being.
"I am that by which
I know I am" conscious of
Present existence.
For man to know God
It must really be God who
Knows Himself in man.
Though reflected in
The circumstance, God is
Found at the center.
WHO AM I ?
Who is this I that I seem to be,
That I feel I am, yet cannot see;
The one in me I've yet to know,
Though ever present wherever I go.
Who can it be, this I in me,
The I that I am, yet never see;
The one in me that still goes on,
When all about has come and gone.
The one in me that always knows,
That never comes and never goes;
That's always here and never there,
Ever present and so nowhere.
The one in me, the one in you,
The I in us and all else too;
The root and core of all that lives,
The essence and soul of all that is.
The I in all which cannot fall,
Alive in the hearts of great and small;
That's never apart and always near,
Knows no hunger and has no fear.
The one in all, the one in each,
The one all seek, but never reach;
The I that I am, that you are too,
The I that answers the question who? _________________ From Source to Source: an Endless Spring |
