Until You Have Tasted The Taste

until you have tasted the taste
of Nisargadatta’s beedies when you have read
his words,
you will not have understood
you will not have seen the wild-eyed boy from
free cloud….

until you have seen the light emanating from Ramana’s eyes
and witnessed the stars,
in silent recognition,
you will not have not seen
nor moved in its grace
made love to Your Beloved
into the
Perfection….of All Things… As It Is…
…As I Am..

until you have hungered like the wolf for the silver moon,
you will not have touched
the heart of the lion
in the mouth of the lamb,
spoken words strung together like
Papier-mâché dolls,

already torn apart.
already as distant as

Speak to us of War and Peace,
so it shall be spoken
so it shall be written

is Peace the absence of war?
declarations and observations in aggregate
though infinitesimal
acts of humanity against humanity?

must we all hold in accordance
a definition and
of what it means to be human in the
gracious resolve that beseeches and bemoans
an ancient cry?
a bloodied fist to imperious truths and lies,
manacled hands against dank prison wall,
untold tortures
of tender unadorned flesh and unbroken miracles of a good
and just will
despairing mercies of hope in oceans of unrequited bones
marked in sodden graves along History’s Way

bearing little resemblance to the lightest touch of being
that ever shelters the good earth with the almighty sky
and heralds in the morning’s promise of Life
in the sweet green grass of an endless homecoming,

the day and hour when mankind
resolves to be

at Home,
at Peace.

The Cuyahoga* River flows through me,
ever crossing the ruby red violin
strings of my heart,
like the soft pliant edges of my unbroken
and impoverished woman-skin,

you are the bow and I am
the raw wind.

*A river in Ohio, meaning ‘crooked river” in Iroquois.

Now! Just another nice day…
A sparrow on the window- chip,chip,chip;
A smile is soul food.
