To reach my brain
information has to run the gauntlet
of my character's apps.

First there's fear; 0 : 1
Next is prejudice; 0 : 1
Then comes preferences; 0 : 1
If the data has come this far it meets
existing data base: 0 : 1
Belief system; 0 : 1
Needs of the moment; 0 : 1

Then, having been modified,
curbed, dissected, re-framed,
homogenised and made safe ....
ah ... the brain let's it in.

Now all the brain has to do is
project all the cut-off bits
out there onto someone else.

No wonder that I'm the only normal one
and everyone else is crackers!

Hi mak.

I'm really fascinated by this post.....i liked where you are going with it.

But, please could you define more clearly what you are referring to, in other words what you mean, by your statement, many thanks.

Joke:
A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike
English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'

A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two
groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether
computer' should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked
to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of the
feminine gender ('la computadora'), because:

1.. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2 The native language they use to communicate with other computers is
incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible
later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself
spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine
('el computador'), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they
ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a
little longer, you could have gotten a better model...

The women won.

he he ... that's pretty close Aqua.

Where it reads Eyes, Ears etc ... just replace that with
the list of filters from my post.

Don Juan talked about "stopping the world". Took me ages
to work out that what he meant was that we create our world
and because of the unconscious filters we only see what we want to see,
hear what we want to hear ...... So I used to practice when walking not talking to myself (ie that internal commentary). When I looked at a tree the brain wanted to say "tree" or "Eucalypt" then it would comment ..."that
tree looks damaged/tall/lopsided/healthy...blah blah blah. It took ages to
stop that commentary (well not stop but really slow right down) and the
reward was that I started to see what was there (what is) - instead of what it suited me to see.
I love that freedom from internal commentary but it always tries to sneak
back in .... I have to remain on guard! and found it doesn't work with secondary symbols such as words ... because they automatically engage the brain ... so when walking I avoid looking at signs, billboards, etc[/quote]

Thanks mak....for taking time out to answer my query.

I understand clearly what you are saying now.

It's like we do not need to superimpose our own self-made opinionated apparent selves, on top of what already IS self-evident.

Q: what do you think:
why were computers created?
what is their ultimate purpose?
