If there is no-one existing nowhere, and the brain doesn't do anything..

What exactly is consciousness and does it even exist?

And if the brain does nothing, does that even exist?

Some say consciousness is an emergence of brain activity, a by-product.

And that mind and consciousness are both processes in the brain, which has been proven over and over again.

Further, there is no invisible soul that duplicates the brain and acts as a miniature first cause.

Would appreciate a detailed reply Leo please?

Thanks.

Oops... not really in the mood to go back to answering questions, but the fingers do not seem to care what I think…they are typing away.

First, to call the manifesting energy consciousness may work for some, but it may also be confusing when consciousness is seen as a function of the brain.

What consciousness is, cannot be said. I might come up with a few labels but it explains nothing. This does not mean that it is something difficult: I can also not say how a peach tastes.

Some metaphors may ‘click’ or not, but let’s compare consciousness to electricity. When electricity enters a fridge it manifests as coldness, when it enters a lamp it manifests as light and trough a stove it manifests as heat.

In a similar fashion, when consciousness/life goes ‘via’ a rose it emerges as perfume, when it goes through a brain, it manifests as mind.
To assert that consciousness emerges in a brain sounds to me as saying that music has its source in the radio.

At this moment there is ‘something/no-thing’ aware of the typing as it happens. It cannot be localized, captured or described, yet it is clear and obvious. If it is denied, there is awareness of the denial. This ‘some-thing’ this ‘intelligence-energy’ as Bob Adamson calls it, has no quality that can describe it, yet it appears as each and every quality.

Another metaphor would be clay: Clay has no form, yet can appear as all forms.

IT expresses as ‘everything’ yet is no-thing specific. It is the being-ness that finds expression in the words ‘I Am’. That, which says ’I Am’ here, is seen as the same One that says ‘I Am’ in Aqua. Different lamps, same light.

The above may ring a bell or be picked apart by the mind, but it certainly is not a description of consciousnes.

Dunno why, but the metaphor 'Leo' 'clicks' with the metaphor 'me'...

Gee, this sounds so slimy for this mind...but the fingers continue typing...

Embarassed Very Happy

Thank you Leo for your time and patience.

Your reply was very good as always, and easy to understand.

This was the bit that really 'clicked' for me.

So thanks again... Very Happy

Then i quoted this, and then accidentally deleted it....

Hi again, ...although the above statement does click with me, i need to know a little bit more.....

Are you saying that consciousness is before the brain?

If like you say ... consciousness goes 'through' a brain, manifesting itself as a mind, that must imply consciousness and mind are not processes of the brain itself, is this correct?

Thanks Leo

If any one else would like to answer this question, be my guest.

Is consciousness before the brain?
