"Were I,
Who to my cost already am,
One of strange, prodigiousm, creatures, Man;
A spirit free,
To choose for my own care
What case of flesh and blood
I chose to wear.
Then I'd be a dog, a monkey or a bear.
Or anything but that vain animal,
Which is so proud of being rational.
Reason, the ignus fatuus of the mind."

This stuck with me although I can never recall
who wrote it.
Philosophy hit a high in Athens
which only goes to show that such thinking
doesn't do much to bring about
answers, peace, quietness, understanding,
happiness, at-one-ment, or really anything
beyond more books, more mental noise.

One of the earliest documents known is
the vision of Enoch. Remember him ...
and his verses on the theme:
"Be still
and know that I Am
God."

Did anyone listen?
