Q & A.
Question: I can be present when I remember to be so...will it become natural at some time? Is there an unmet belief or story that keeps me from fully forever staying in that awareness even though the world goes on around me?

Do I need to dedicate time each day to go into presence to strengthen this awareness as well as remember throughout the day?

Answer: The 'I' who wants to be present is a phantom. There is only Presence.

The word 'rock' points to an object, but is itself not a rock. In the same way the word 'I' points to something, which is not a word, and the invitation here, is to find out what this 'something' is. Is it not the undeniable Presence itself expressing AS the thought 'I AM?' This Presence is what is, and therefore it will not become natural for someone later on, but it is Timeless-Natural-Presence itself. It is best not to accept or reject this conclusion, but to have a good look by yourself for your SELF.

This One Presence this SELF- is all there is. It appears AS everything, including the illusion of separation and the ensuing ideas that include a separate 'you' who can either remember or forget. You are not just this dream character who apparently remembers and forgets, but THAT what knows -and appears as- the remembering and forgetting right now.

When IT wants to meditate AS an apparent you, IT will do so. Seeing that there is no separate you to do anything will 'loosen the load' and this load will ultimately be recognized as totally nonexistent.

See that there is no you to do the remembering, the forgetting or the meditation. It all appears from Source; and Source is the only 'doer' in this whole manifestation. Every thought, action, feeling, every object or concept, arises spontaneously from Source like fragrance from a rose.

Source/IT does you, you do not do IT. This is already and always so. No need to remember or forget, just like you do not have to remember to be present while reading these words; and just like forgetting about being present does not erase the Presence that IS.

There is only Source appearing
There is only Source appearing. All that manifests is always and only the appearance of Source ... the apparent universe, the world, the life story, the body mind, feelings, the sense of separation, the search for enlightenment, is all the one appearing as two, the no thing appearing as everything. The drama of the search is totally without meaning or purpose. It is a dream awakening. There is no deeper intelligence weaving a destiny and no choice functioning at any level.

Nothing is born and nothing dies. Nothing is happening. But this, as it is, invites the apparent seeker to rediscover its origin. When the invitation is accepted by no-one, then it is seen that there is only Source ... the uncaused, unchanging, impersonal stillness from which unconditional love overflows and celebrates.

It is the wonderful mystery.

Awakened Poetry

First days of spring

First days of spring.....blue sky, bright sun.
Everything is gradually becoming fresh and green.
Carrying my bowl, I walk slowly to the village.
The children, surprised to see me,
Joyfully crowd about, bringing
my begging trip to an end by the temple gate.
I place my bowl on top of a white rock and
Hang my sack from the branch of a tree.
Here we play with the wild grasses and throw a ball.
For a time, I play catch while the children sing;
Then it's my turn.
Playing like this, here and there, I have forgotten the time.
Passers-by point and laugh at me, asking,
"What is the reason for such foolishness?"
No answer I give, only a deep bow;
Even if I replied, they would not understand.
Look around! There is nothing besides this.

Quote of the moment!

So How do I STOP Thinking? Well .. if I knew THAT I would open an ashram in Lucknow or Mountain View. But really: "I" cannot. Because as is finally seen much later, I ain't thinking at all! That "I" itself is a thought. How the hell can a thought think??

Smile of the moment!

Just One Wish

A woman was walking along the beach when she stumbled upon a Genie's lamp. She picked it up and rubbed it, and lo-and-behold a Genie appeared. The amazed woman asked if she got three wishes.

The Genie said, "Nope. . . due to inflation, constant downsizing, low wages in third-world countries, and fierce global competition, I can only grant you one wish. So. . . what'll it be? "

The woman didn't hesitate. She said, "I want peace in the Middle East. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with each other. "

The Genie looked at the map and exclaimed, "Gadzooks, lady! These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I'm good but not THAT good! I don't think it can be done. Make another wish. "

The woman thought for a minute and said, "Well, I've never been able to find the right man. You know, one that's considerate and fun, likes to cook and helps with the housecleaning, is good in bed and gets along with my family, doesn't watch sports all the time, and is faithful. That's what I wish for. . a good mate."

The Genie let out a long sigh and said, "Let me see that fuckin' map!"

Alternate version (for men)

A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled across an old lamp. He picked it up, rubbed it and out popped a genie. The genie said "OK, OK. You released me from the lamp, blah blah blah. This is the fourth time this month and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three. You only get one wish!"

The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but I'm scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive my Vette over there to visit?"

The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible. Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete...how much steel! And the maintenance Of that bridge! No - think of another wish."

The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women ... know how they feel inside and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment ... know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say nothing ... know how to make them truly happy ... I really want to understand women and how they think!"

The genie said, "You want that bridge with two lanes or four?"
