Q & A.
Question: We recently had Darshan with Mother Meera, an Avatar of the Divine Mother. Her transmission of Light is very palpable, loving and transformative and She is very present and aware.

Some advaita teachers have implied that having Darshan with an Avatar is a form of seeking or spiritual materialism, and is very dualistic. On the other hand, there is only One and Mother Meera's work as an Avatar is God's lila and those apparent individuals drawn to have Darshan with her are clearly part of this lila. Not two. Or, as Wayne Liqourman says, Consciousness likes to play with Itself.

So, from the true view of advaita, it would seem that there is absolutely no problem with Avatars giving Darshan and apparent people receiving it anymore than there is a problem with you apparently writing a newsletter and us apparently receiving it and reading it. It may 'appear' dualistic but it simply is This happening now.

What is your take on all of this?

Answer: I had to Google the word Darshan before responding and this is what I found: "Darshan refers to a meeting with a religious figure, or a place/idol believed to embody the spirit of a particular figure."

Darshan, dancing, feeling up or down, transmission, transformation, and writing or receiving the newsletter, are all experiences, but THAT, in which such experiences arise and subside, is not an experience. IT does not transform as it is the Single Source, prior to the formed an unformed. Nothing is received or transmitted to Source, as IT IS fully present everywhere and every-when.

And yes, in the absolute sense, there is nothing wrong (or right) with Darshan, Avatars, or light transmissions, whether they are perceived as dualistic or not. Actually all experiences, ideas and concepts are dualistic in nature; including this question/answer exchange.

THAT, which knows all experiences before they get labeled, is not relative/dualistic and therefore IT is not 'concerned' with -or affected by- ideas of right and wrong.

When Darshan is seen as a way to 'get it' Advaita may point out that this is a misconception, as there is nothing to get an no one to get it. Advaita also says that there is only the Self or "All is Brahman."

This Universe -or 'the body of the One'- may include the appearance of Darshan, seeking, the idea of transmission and all possible conceptions and misconceptions. There's nothing wrong or right with it: It's all THIS and no-thing else. Or as you write "it simply is This happening now."

The Great Way
In "The Great Way" the Sage says,

"Emptiness here, emptiness there, but the infinite universe stands always before your eyes. Infinitely large and infinitely small; no difference, for definitions have vanished and no boundaries are seen. So too with Being and non-Being."

What does this mean? First off, this is nothing that can be grasped or owned by the "person-mind." It is a pointer to That which knows the knower and the knowing … the non-dual Presence-Awareness that is ALWAYS so, always here and now, unavoidable and yet unimaginable. THAT Space-like Awareness, That Emptiness, IS our true nature. You innately know this to be true. Only the mind imagines some reality that argues against this insight … and this imagination IS NOT REAL … that is to say, on investigation, it simply falls apart, like a cloud that looks like a battleship that crumbles in the breeze.

The One is all there is. Whether That is experienced by a seeker or not, matters not in the least! Because, look, what could possibly be excluded from The One Without A Second?

Oneness is like the clear blue sky-
everything arises, unfolds, and subsides
within its all-compassionate love.
Oneness is our real Self.
Everything is an aspect of Oneness.
And our quest to know this comes from Oneness.
Abhinavagupta, on the teachings of Non-dual Kashmir Shaivism

It's dubbed NON-duality. Not two. Where is there any room for a subject observer and an object observed in That? It is impossible.

Awakened Poetry

Nirvana

All is abolished but the mute Alone.
The mind from thought released, the heart from grief,
Grow inexistent now beyond belief;
There is no I, no Nature, known-unknown.
The city, a shadow picture without tone,
Floats, quivers unreal; forms without relief
Flow, a cinema's vacant shapes; like a reef
Foundering in shoreless gulfs the world is done.

Only the illimitable Permanent
Is here. A Peace stupendous, featureless, still.
Replaces all, - what once was I, in It
A silent unnamed emptiness content
Either to fade in the Unknowable
Or thrill with the luminous seas of the Infinite.

Quote of the Moment!

For see!
The Self is in all beings,
And all beings are in the Self.
Know you are free,
Free of 'I',
Free of 'mine.'
Be happy.

Smile of the Moment!

Noah's Ark

Everything I needed to know, I learnt from Noah's Ark.

ONE: Don't miss the boat.

TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.

THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

SIX: Build your future on high ground.

SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.

TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

ELEVEN: No matter the storm, trust that there's always a rainbow waiting.
