The Big S Self

Post by toombaru » Wed Nov 07, 2007 6:24 pm

The belief in a Big S Self and the belief in a conceptual "Oneness" are merely attempts by the illusory little s self to envisage its own ultimate completion.

All such beliefs stem from the innate religiosity that emerges from within the illusion of autonomy and are needed to confirm the reality of the non-existent.

hi Toombaru

a strong conviction of the Reality of the big Self can only arise after having directly experienced. Only direct experience will put the mind at rest and plant the seed of Self.

Ultimate Reality has got to be real, but also whatever exists in it needs to be 'real' too. Even this world full of 'illusion' and 'ignorance' has got to be 'real'...

Hi Kali,

What is experience but an accumulation of self-referential memories.....a stack of shadows?

What is the nature of the creature that is the container of the experience ?

Is there any reality beyond the thinking of it?

What if you were the best and brightest that life had to offer?

What if.....................What if..............you were the very edge of the ever expanding consciousness?

What if behind you.......and beyond you........there is nothing?

What if you were the point out of which the whole drama opens?

Does it really matter
whether THAT
what appears as everything
and nothing
is named or not named,
labeled or not labeled,
pointed to or not pointed to
as....

The Nameless
No-Thing-Ness
Tao
God
IT
One
Shiva
Vast Emptiness
Allah
Maha Mudra
Brahman
Self
This
Beingness
Jahweh
Father
Mother
She
S-HE
Source
Livingness
Consciousness
One without a Second
Spirit
The Light beyond light and dark
The Beyond
The Unborn
Presence
The Beloved
or .....

Ohhh...Beloved, just right on the spot..... :D

perhaps it would be nice to add in the end of this soooo long, perhaps endless list of names (it really doesn't matter, Leo  ), but not last...

LOVE....

as Rumi said so simple:

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the gentle pull
of what you really love.”

In Each Other - Rumi

The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you,
not knowing how blind that was.
Lovers don't finally meet somewhere,
they're in each other all along

'Normal' perception....

Mountains are mountains and rivers are rivers.

In the initial shock of nondualism it is discovered that 'things' are conceptual labels....

Mountains are no longer mountains and rivers are no longer rivers.

In the 'knowning' that ALL is nondual (including the dual), everything is 'seen' to be 'as it is'....

Mountains are once again mountains and rivers again rivers.

Your naming, labeling and pointing does me good.

It's like a pointing away from complexity and conflict, torward simplicity, harmony and unity.

It's nice this oasis of non-duality pointing is here.
It's like a gulp of pure water and a breathe of fresh air :D

Kali, you really said this very well, I think it deserves a repeat here so as not to missed!

Yes, as real as the dreams
appearing within the dreamer. :D

Call IT 'real' and you assert
Call IT 'unreal' and you deny.
Without the duality
of asserting and denying
what is IT?
