Without words
without labels
there is no Christmas...

But if we pretend there is
it can mean whatever we please.

What does it mean to me?
Since this is the northern hemisphere
the days are getting longer again.
It is a celebration of the cycle of life
the return of the light.

The ever green Christmas trees
decorated with light
are the perfect symbol for this...

Metaphorically
this 'return' of the light
is translated in wishing
light and peace to all..
Especially to those
who find themselves alone
in a dark corner of the dream.

Be well all...
Be well dear One.
This is for you al-one..

Ahhh, you guys are very amazing. [ok]

And while I can appreciate the perspective of those who don't like Christmas, my very first response was to explain to my friend that Christmas could also be seen and experienced as other more pleasant things, not just the bad stuff. Yes, we can arbitrarily give the day any meaning we like (just like the Christians did when they decided that that was a good day to celebrate the birth of Jesus, even though he wasn't actually born on that day). But explaining to my friend about shifting his perspective was a useless endeavor because he's much too firmly entrenched in the "stupidity" of Christmas to appreciate any of the "merry" parts of it. And really, he's sooo enormously merry the rest of the time that I've' decided to allow him to wallow in an unchecked state during his frustrated rants. Besides, every time I recall him blurting out "stupid Christmas shit!" it has the effect of making me giggle like crazy all over again. ... Yeah, somehow there's even a weird merriment in his unabashed expression of frustration.

But interestingly, in the last 3 days my friend has been calling more frequently, trying to include me in some Christmas day activities; apparently he's worried that I may be spending the day "alone in a dark corner of the dream"... yeah, sweet guy. O:)

It's also weird to think that Christmas came several hours earlier to those of you in those "earlier" time zones. I find it so interesting that while it was Christmas day in one area, it was still Christmas Eve somewhere else. Yep, time zones (and Christmas) are just make-believe no-things, but it's so amazing how we give them meanings so they can charm (or torture) us.

Crystalline beads of frozen dew make for a fine Christmas greeting.
Ice Zen.

Marry Silent Christmas...

:)
Ah-ha! Beautiful!... [ok]
I also don't put up Christmas decorations, but I'm hopelessly charmed by the displays of those who do, even when it's the most "natural" kind of decorations. ;) :D

Also wishing "joy and light" to you all, and especially the warmest ((hugs)) to those who are "alone in a dark corner of the dream." [wink]
